Using the Kim Krans "Wild Unknown Tarot Deck" and the book "Wild Card" by Jen Cownie and Fiona Lensvelt.
I find Kim's original translation of her cards a little brief. And often I would be skimming over readings rather than sitting with them.
The book "Wild Card" contains descriptions of the cards from several places, plus their own take and at the end of the descriptions of the cards there are several questions that relate to the cards meaning.
I like the questions, and to sit with the imagery. This has allowed me to start sitting with my readings and asking myself the questions that surface as a natural part of the unravelling process.
This reading for me pointed towards the source of my current emotional state (ace of cups) and the profound loneliness I have been feeling lately (five of pentacles). The questions provided in the book allow me to ponder the cards and come to my own conclusion as to what it means rather than the blunt understandings given by Kim. and whilst I do love Kim Krans' Tarot decks, I have often found them a little confusing as a beginner.
The questions coming to mind for me is this... "What makes me feel isolated?" "Am I isolating myself and why?" "Do I feel as though I don't fit in?" "What is it that I am really looking for?" "Do I just want to feel connection to others?" "Is it bigger than that?"..... It's probably a lot to unpack all at once. I may need to sit with this reading for a few days to understand what it is that I am picking up on! I have spent the last few days down a rabbit-hole investigating UFO case files and watching Project Bluebook and Resident Alien. I feel currently like this is the source of my othering. Am I disconnecting from those around me or do I feel like I am being pushed out?
For me that is the key to tarot (what does it mean to me? what do your readings mean to you?) and why I personally do not like doing readings for others. It is, for me, a very personal practice. And one that takes a long time to master, there are always more ways to read the cards and more decks. I think it is more about what my psyche is picking up on, what stands out. Once we understand each card we can start to understand what the imagery is saying to us personally.
